Mathile Scholarship
Each year, two entering students are selected to receive the prestigious full-tuition Mathile Scholarship at Ohio Northern University. This renewable scholarship is available for a maximum of four years and will replace all other ONU scholarships and awards.
Students are selected to apply for this scholarship by the Office of Admissions based on their academic credentials. Once selected, applicants are asked to submit an application, which includes an essay and resume. If you have been selected to apply, please take note of the following important steps:
- Complete and submit your Mathile Scholarship application (which will include your essay and resume) by end of day on January 4, 2027.
- After a review of the applications, finalists for the Mathile Scholarship will be selected and notified by the Office of Admissions. Finalists will be selected and notified by January 15, 2027.
- Finalists will complete an interview with the Mathile Scholarship selection committee between January 18-29, 2027.
- Recipients of the Mathile Scholarship will be notified by February 8, 2027.
Your Mathile Scholarship essay should address the following question:
Ohio Northern alumnus Clayton Mathile and his wife, Maryann, dedicated their lives to leadership and community service. With this in mind, please discuss why you would be the best candidate for the Mathile Scholarship.
Essays should be approximately 500 words (not to exceed 750 words). Essays must be submitted as a PDF or Word file.
